This is Erasmus' Adagia commentary on the one-skilled Hedgehog vs the many-skilled Fox. The original adage (likely a fragment from a fable) was written by Greek lyric poet Archilochus of Paros (ca. 680-640 BC) "The fox knows many tricks, the hedgehog only one. One good one."
